This brave (not so little) pup has had a rough few weeks. Teddy wasn’t feeling himself—he was off his food, being sick, and had very soft stools. With a suspicion of a possible foreign body in his intestines, he was admitted for an ultrasound and x-rays. But the imaging and exploratory surgery revealed something far more serious: a massive abscess at the root of his mesentery, which sadly couldn’t be removed.
Our team performed careful drainage and flushing to relieve the pressure and inflammation, and Teddy stayed with us throughout the entire Easter weekend.

His recovery was slow, but he had the best support squad. His sister Jadzia never left his side, offering quiet company and comfort. His incredible owner visited daily, lovingly prepared all sorts of tempting meals just to get him to eat, and cheered him on every step of the way.

One of the biggest hurdles was that Teddy’s intestines weren’t moving properly due to the size of the abscess—so even as he started to brighten up, his appetite just wasn’t there. But he fought on… and then on Easter Monday, we witnessed a small miracle: Teddy played with Jadzia, did a very lovely poop
(yes, we vets get excited about that!) and cleared a full bowl of food.

He still has a journey ahead, but we are absolutely overjoyed to see him acting more and more like his cheeky, happy self again.
